How beary sporty! Wild bears play with football in Odisha’s Nabrangpur

A video clip of wild bears playing with football in Odisha’s Nabrangpur is viral on social media. As per reports, few locals were playing football when the bears appeared.

September 16, 2021: A video of two wild bears play with football in Odisha’s Nabrangpur went viral on social media. The video of the wild bears was recorded in Nabarangpur forest in Odisha. The video of the wild beasts playing a human game all innocently has enthralled the netizens.

As per reports, few locals were playing football when the bears appeared. The village youngsters fled from the area leaving the football behind. In the video, one of the bears was seen kicking the ball and tossing it in the air. The locals who shot the video enjoyed the rare sight of the bears playing, last Sunday.

The locals gathered at a safe distance and shot the stunning video with their mobile phones which has now gone viral on social media platforms.

Wild bears play with football: Video goes viral

To the villagers’ astonishment and amusement, the wild bears started playing with the soccer ball among themselves. A few locals captured the rare sight in their mobile phones and posted it in social media. In the video, the two wild animals could be seen replicating the actions of the children as they continued to kick, throw and catch up with the ball in jubilation.

In the 1.02-minute clip, the two bears first examine the football and then start playing with it. Talking to ANI, the Divisional Forest Office said that this behaviour is a basic ‘animal instinct’. “They examine and try to find out the nature of any object that they find for the first time,” the DFO told the news agency. The clip concludes with the bears running away with the football.

Locals amused at the sight of frolicking wild beasts

“The wild animals were not violent, rather they seemed quite funny and enjoyed the time in style. It was a really entertaining and a rare sight to watch,” said Ramesh Jena, a villager.

“Earlier, we had seen bears playing football in zoos and circus shows. Watching such sights in jungle is really amusing and memorable,” said Arjun Bhatra, another local.

“The wild animals played for few minutes. But later vanished into the jungle with the ball after getting frightened by the rising gathering of the people to witness the entertaining spectacle,” he said.
