Most importantly, water helps in flushing down the toxins and body wastes. Water can do wonder for our overall health. Not drinking enough water can lead to constipation and hard stools and dehydration. Sure, fact says water does help in digestion. Now the question is what is the correct time to drink water? Before the meal? After the meal? Or to keep sipping water during meals? This is question which most of us struggle with.
Should we keep sipping water during meals?
Some people drink water before the meal to make the throat moist and to avoid choking on food particles.
Others drink water after the completion of meal to get a feeling of fullness. Yet another category of people keep sipping water during meals to promote healthy digestion.
Drinking along the meals is quite a contradictory choice as the other category says it reduces the amount of saliva formation inside the mouth and disrupts digestion. Result, the undigested food in your stomach causes acid reflux and heartburn.

Prevents obesity? Surprisingly, it does. Sipping water along the meals lets you take break while biting and it also questions your amount of fullness which in turn helps you to avoid overeating. One 12-week study showed that participants who drank 17 ounces (500 ml) of water before each meal lost 4.4 pounds (2 kg) more than those who did not.
