Mumbai, July 19: Recently Bollywood filmmakers Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari have come on board to direct a sports docudrama. Revolving around the on-court glory and off-court lives of the living legends, the show is titled Break Point. The show is based on the lives of ace tennis players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. Sneh Binny, who is the owner of Delhi Binny’s Brigade in Tennis Premier League, feels there should be more docudramas to create awareness.
Sneh Binny on Lee-Hesh
For Sneh Binny, talking about Indian tennis is incomplete with mentioning about Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.
“When you talk about tennis, Leander and Mahesh Bhupathi are the two names that will definitely strike your mind. It is because they are legends of tennis in India. They have played a very important role in shaping the future of tennis in India. They made India super proud by being the first Indian pair to win at Wimbledon and French Open in 1999. The current generation is actively involved in sports and tennis lovers admire Leander and Mahesh. We all look up to them,” he said.
Sneh Binny on more sports docudramas
Having said that, Sneh Binny believes that more sports docudramas like Break Point, which has recently been announced by Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari will create awareness about sports in India.
“I sincerely feel there should be more docudramas on sports personalities to increase awareness of sports in India. It helps a lot. We have seen that sports films and shows make a great impact on viewers and especially the youth, they get inspired to take up sports as their passion and profession, which helps make India proud.”
All praise for filmmakers
Sneh also feels directors like Nitesh (director of Dangal) and Ashwiny (Nil Battey Sannata) are two of the most creative makers of the industry.
“Filmmakers Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari have experience of sports movies such as Dangal and Panga. I am really excited to see what they have to present to the audience with Break Point,” he said.
Being a tennis team owner, he always wanted to watch a docudrama or biopic on sports other than cricket.
“Seeing the lack of awareness of sports other than cricket, especially tennis, I wanted to see a docudrama or a biopic on tennis legends and with this news, Ashwiny and Nitesh are in a way fulfilling my dreams too,” said Binny.
