Niladri Bije and Rasagola Dibas celebrated today

As the trinity enter the temple, an angry Maa Lakshmi waits impatiently for her husband.

To placate her anger, Lord Jagannath offers her Rasagola on the day of Niladri Bije.

Therefore, Odisha also celebrates Rasagola Day today, the day of one of the most famous sweets all over the state.

The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik and sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik have delivered special wishes of the day on Twitter.

Niladri Bije marks the end of the annual Rath Yatra amidst the pandemic this year

After the Adhara Pana was offered to the deities on chariots on Thursday, the Niladri Bije will be conducted by the servitors in absence of the public on Friday. The Ratna Singhasana will be cleaned for the deities to reside on it again.

Rituals like Mangala Alati, Mailama, Sakaladhupa, Madhyanna Dhupa, Sandhya Arati and Sandhaya Dhupa will be performed on the chariots today. All the rituals will be followed by the Charamala tying.

At 4pm, the Goti Pahandi is expected to begin and it will end at 10pm.

Meanwhile, Devi Lakshmi will obstruct her husband’s path and they will meet for a brief before going back to Ratna Bedi. At 2.30am, Sri Sudharshan will ascend the Ratna Bedi.

Mana Bhanjan

It is believed that Devi Lakshmi, wife of Lord Jagannath, gets angry as she was left in the Srimandir and was not a part of the Rath Yatra to the Gundicha temple.

She only allows Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Sudarshana into the temple and closes the temple gate for Lord Jagannath.

Hence, in order to convince Devi Lakshmi, Lord Jagannath offers rasagola and requests her to forgive him.

This ritual is called ‘Mana Bhanjan.’ Following this, Lord Jagannath is made to sit beside Devi Lakshmi where a ritual of reunion is rehearsed.
