The NEET PG 2021 exam postponed for at least 4 months in view of the ongoing second wave COVID-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister’s Office in an official statement on Monday announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG exam to be postponed for at least 4 months in order to boost the availability of medical personnel to fight COVID-19.
NEET PG 2021 Exam Postponed
The NEET PG exam, that was going to be held on April 18, had been postponed for the time being last month. Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had in April announced the postponement of NEET PG exam for the time being keeping in mind the rising COVID-19 cases. Now the decision has been taken to postpone the exams for at least 4 months. Students will be given at least one month time after the announcement of the revised date to prepare. This decision was announced after PM Modi’s review meeting on Sunday.
“A decision was taken to postpone NEET-PG for at least 4 months and the exam will not be held before 31st August 2021. Students will also be given at least one month of time after the announcement of the exam before it is conducted,” read the government’s release.
NEET PG 2021 Exam Postponed, giving space to more medical personnel
As per the decision taken by PM Narendra Modi authorities, medical personnel completing 100 days of COVID duties will be given priority in forthcoming regular government recruitments.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi authorises key decisions to boost availability of medical personnel to fight COVID-19. NEET PG Exam to be postponed for at least 4 months,” said the PMO.
“Final Year MBBS students can be utilised for teleconsultation and monitoring of mild COVID cases under the supervision of the faculty. BSc/GNM qualified nurses to be utilised in full-time COVID nursing duties under the supervision of Senior Doctors and Nurses,” it added.
Medical Interns to be deployed in COVID Management duties under the supervision of their faculty.
“NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses,” reads the official NEET PG 2021 information bulletin.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) is also expected to be deferred in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET (UG) 2021 examination in 11 languages, including Hindi and English through Pen and Paper mode. The total duration of the examination is three hours.
