July 28, 2021: The NCW has launched a helpline for women which aims to give relief to women in any given hour of the day and to provide immediate relief to women affected by violence, abuse or any kind of harassment.

The NCW (National Commission for Women) has now launched a 24*7 helpline number for all those women who face any form of abuse, harassment or sexual violence.
This helpline number aims to provide safety in times of danger to every woman in the nation. This helpline number was launched successfully on Tuesday by Smriti Irani, the Union Minister and also by Indevar Pandey, the WCD Secretary.
Reportedly, this women’s helpline number has been developed in collaboration with the Digital India Corporation and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Notably, the NCW under statutory mandate has looked through several such complaints.
All these complaints come under different sections of violence and violation of women rights throughout India.
Usually, all these complaints are made on the website digitally or submitted in a written statement. Hence, the NCW has decided to expand and grow this platform for women by launching this helpline number.
This helpline is meant for any woman who is 18 or more than 18 years of age.
She can dial this helpline and seek it’s help securely. The helpline issued by the NCW for women would now be operating with a specific team of professionals. The major objective of issuing this women helpline number is to provide all services related to abuse, violence, harassment, misbehaviour at one place. Any woman seeking the help of this service would receive immediate help in the form of counseling or police protection etc.

Earlier, on Monday this week, the NCW took to its official Twitter page and stated, “Launching tomorrow on July 27! @NCWIndia’s country-wide helpline number 7827 170 170 for providing emergency response to women affected by violence. The helpline will provide round-the-clock information & support to women seeking help.”
The helpline number of NCW has been launched and it claims to deliver immediate support and assurance of safety to any woman seeking its help. The helpline number is as follows; 7827170170.
