Odisha’s unique JAGA Mission has been nationally awarded. It’s an honor for the whole state as it has been presented along with two other national awards for its JAGA Mission and Piped Water Supply Scheme on Tuesday.
JAGA is a society under housing and urban development, Government of Odisha.
1) It works to transform the slums into liveable habitat with all necessary civic infrastructure and services at par with the better off areas within the same urban local body (ULB).
2) Continuously improve the standard of the infrastructure and services and access to livelihood opportunities.
3) Leverage and converge various schemes, programs, funding, and opportunities by strengthening collaboration among various departments and other stakeholders.
4) Provide advisory support to the Government of Odisha to examine options for policy reforms required for the sustainable transformation of the lives of the urban.
JAGA Mission awarded at the Janaagraha City Governance Award ceremony:
The State Government received two national awards at the second edition of the Janaagraha City Governance Award ceremony, which was administered by the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs department, Hardeep Singh Puri, virtually.
Amidst the JAGA Mission of the Housing and Urban Development Department of Odisha won the Best State Award, the Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) won the Best Civic Agency Award for universal access to the piped water supply.

The state won these two awards by competing with 54 applicants from 17 different states.
