The differently-abled sports personas of India have proved their might and intend in terms of their dedication and contribution in the all spheres, especially at the Paralympics. In light of their enhancing interests and in the favour of their development, the government of India has decided upon the establishment of five “Divyangta Khel Kendras” in various regions of the nation.

The information came from Union minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawarchand Gehlot, on Sunday, during his virtual address to the “Samajik Adhikarita Shivir”, held in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
The shivir was aimed at the distribution of aids and assistive devices to the disabled under the ADIP (assistance to disabled persons for purchase) scheme.
The minister said, “Looking at the interest towards the sports among the ‘Divyangjan’ of the nation and their good performances in the Paralympics the ministry has decided to establish five ‘Divyangta Khel Kendra’ in different parts of the country, out of which Ahmedabad will be one such city to open such facility.”
Statistics and fund
Providing the statistics of the Accessible India campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) launched to provide the seamless transportation facilities for the disabled, Gehlot mentioned the coverage of as many as 709 railway stations, 10,175 bus depots and 683 websites.
He also mentioned a fund of Rs 8.06 crore being provided to Gujarat under a scholarship programme which has a beneficiary base of 2808 people.
In addition, he mentioned that the work regarding the National Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh has been started by the CPWD (Central Public Works Department).
Reactions of CM on Divyangta Khel Kendra
The society which ignores the Divyangjan is in itself a disabled society, such were the expressions of the Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani. Commemorating the Right to Persons with Disability act of 2016, Rupani expressed the security and fundamental requisites the act brought in its basket for the disabled of the nation. He impressed upon the induction of the divyangan into all social spheres for the advanced development of the country.
At the block or panchayat levels around 3,805 Divyangjans will be provided with 6,225 aids and assistive devices of worth Rs 3.57 crore for free of cost. Around 50 beneficiaries out of the 3.805 pre-indentified divyangjans were provided with aid and assistive devices at the “Samajik Adhikarita Shivir” held at Jamnagar, Gujrat sticking to the COVID-19 norms.
