The novel coronavirus is a deadly virus that has shaken the world by taking the lives of lakhs of people. The world pandemic has affected nearly 213 countries and territories worldwide. India is the fourth largest country worst hit by this deadly virus. The number of people affected and the death rates are inflating in greater numbers every day. Today, the country has reported the largest number of deaths since ever.
India has nearly 4.25 lakh corona positive cases, with recording the highest number of deaths in a single day, i.e. 445 deaths amid the rapid rise of new infections. According to the Union Ministry data, the spike in the positive cases has increased the country’s count to 4,25,282 and also the death count to 13,699.
In the last 24 hours, it has reported 14, 821 new corona positive cases which are increasing constantly every day. However, there is also a stable recovery rate, with 55.77 percent of corona patients declared virus-free. The steady increase in the recovery rate has increased the country’s tally to 2,37,196.
The worst affected state, Maharashtra has recorded new 3,870 positive cases and taking the state’s total count to 1,32,075. It has recorded 101 deaths, and the death rate has increased to 6,170. The Capital Mumbai’s total count has increased to 66,488 and the city’s doubling rate has gone up to thirty-four days. The recovery rate of Maharashtra is about 49.78 percent and has about 60,000 positive cases.
Coronavirus and states
Delhi has surpassed Tamil Nadu and has become the second-highest corona affected state in the country after Maharashtra. The corona positive cases in Delhi is about to reach the 60,000 marks with 59,746 positive cases. The Delhi government has issued a revised order on home quarantine for corona patients. In the midst of rising numbers, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Lieutenant Governor Anil Bajilal had a meeting and decided to increase the robust contact tracing, revamp the entire containment zones and strengthen the most affected areas with improved medical services. The center has also instructed the state government to report each and every death.
Tamil Nadu has recorded the highest single-day positive cases of 2,352 and 53 deaths across the state. For the fifth consecutive day, the positive case count has crossed the 2,000 mark. The state’s corona positive tally has increased to 59,377 with 25,863 active cases. A worse condition is prevailing in the capital Chennai with 40,000 positive corona cases which accounts for 69 percent of positive cases in the state. However, Tamil Nadu tops among all states for the highest number of the sample tested, i.e. 7,71,263. Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, and Chengalpattu districts are under total lockdown till June 30 to abandon the spread of the virus.
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken nearly 4.69 lakh lives globally, and 89.44 lakh people have been affected by the deadly virus. It is a highly challenging situation for every country to combat deadly coronavirus. Each country should implement stringent measures and save the lives of people from the pandemic.
