June 29, 2021: At a time when most people are struggling to get a single jab, there are several people nowadays who are taking Covaxin after two shots of Covishield.
Getting Covaxin after two shots of Covishield
Many people are getting jabs of Covaxin after two shots of Covishield in India.
Doctors say that this kind of act is pure greed and that they might become guinea pigs as there is no data on what happens when two separate COVID-19 vaccines get mixed up inside the body.
Reportedly, plenty of people in India haven’t yet got their first jab of COVID-19 vaccine, however, certain people, especially the healthcare staff and medical workers, are getting much more vaccination doses than they require.
Notably, numerous doctors have reported such cases where people submit different IDs and phone numbers in order to register on the CoWin portal and to get a different vaccine dose.
Most of them have completed their two doses of Covishield and now they are getting Covaxin doses as well.
Covaxin after two shots of Covishield: Here’s what doctors have to say
When people are getting jabs of Covaxin after two shots of Covishield, doctors say that the flaws lie in the system. Dr Prasanna, who is the President of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) said, “This situation clearly flags the flaw in the system. If the government agrees to permit only one kind of Photo Id, this problem won’t arise. However, since everyone can’t have only one identification document, the government should develop a solution for this. People are becoming guinea pigs by doing all these unnecessary things. They may affect your genes, we don’t know yet.”
Dr Prasanna spoke of the scarcity of COVID-19 vaccines in our nation and said the vaccine jabs are emergency immunization and also there is very little data or research results available as to what happens on mixing two separate coronavirus vaccines.
Greed to take more jabs
Dr V Ravi, who is the Senior Virologist as well as the Covid Technical Advisory Committee member, of Karnataka, said, “This is pure greed. They are snatching vaccines from others’ chances of protection from Covid. This is a grave mistake and people shouldn’t be doing this.” Dr V Ravi added further that we are not aware as to how our body would react to two separate COVID-19 vaccines getting mixed up inside.
