Easy Chicken Vada Pav to bring that flavour of street-style food straight to your home

People are now coming up with a number of unique twists on this classic recipe, making it even more delightful. Try this unique recipe of Chicken Vada Pav.

August 18 , 2021 : Vada is created with moderately spiced mashed potatoes that are dipped in gram flour batter and fried to perfection. Just before it goes into your drooling lips, the fried delight finds its way into the arms of a bun, accompanied with its traditional companion, a dry garlic chutney. It’s no surprise that this is a popular dish in our country, particularly among Mumbai residents. People are now coming up with a number of unique twists on this classic recipe, making it even more delightful. So, let’s try this unique recipe of Chicken Vada Pav.

Ingredients for Chicken Vada Pav

For filling:

  1. 1 lb Ground Chicken
  2. ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  3. ½ tsp Ginger powder
  4. ½ tsp Garlic powder
  5. 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  6. 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  7. ¾ tsp Dry Mango Powder/Amchur Powder
  8. 2 tsp Ghati Masala/Garam Masala
  9. 1 ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
  10. 3 tsp Lemon juice
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Oil for deep frying
  13. Pav

For batter:

  1. 1¼ cups Coarse gram flour besan
  2. 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  3. ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  4. 2 tsp Baking Powder
  5. Salt to taste

Method to make the Chicken Vada Pav

For filling:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, ginger, garlic, turmeric, coriander, cumin, dry mango powder, ghati masala, red chilli powder, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Make equal-sized round balls out of the mixture.

For batter:

  • In a mixing dish, combine the gram flour. Mix in the salt, red chilli powder, and turmeric powder. Add enough water to make a smooth, thick batter. Allow at least 15 minutes to set.

For frying:

  • Heat sufficient oil in a big frying pan. Add baking powder to the batter and mix. Dip the balls gently in the batter and deep fry till golden brown on the outside.
  • Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Slit each pav, spread some chutney, place a fritter (vada) and press lightly. Serve immediately.
