Kolkata, July 20: West Bengal Police have filed a case against BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari. A case has been filed over Adhikari’s comments, which were aimed at East Midnapore’s SP Amarnath K.

Suvendu Adhikari was addressing the BJP workers in Tamluk when he claimed that he has “call records” East Midnapore SP Amarnath K and warns him “not to do anything that will lead to you doing duty in Jammu &Kashmir’s Anantnag or Baramulla.”
Adhikari has been booked under various provisions of the National Disaster Management Act and the Official Secrets Act.

The BJP MLA even warned the East Midnapore SP of being posted in Jammu &Kashmir’s Anantnag or Baramulla.”
He said if the SP had the backing of the Bengal government, then the Central government was with him.
“I have all call details and records of phone calls made from nephew’s (TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee) office to you. If you have the backing of the state government, I have the central government with me… Don’t think that the BJP is weak,” he was quoted as saying in a leading daily.

The East Midnapore police had started probe into complaints against Adhikari, including a tarpaulin theft case in which he has been accused of criminal conspiracy and a murder case involving his security guard in 2018.
The murder case is now being investigated by CID.
Disqualification of Mukul Roy
Meanwhile, Adhikari said the BJP may move the court to disqualify former party leader Mukul Roy, who recently jumped ship to TMC.
He has also been nominated as the chairman of Public Accounts Committee.
Adhikari submitted a 64-page document to Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay demanding disqualification of Mukul Roy.
He also attended the hearing on his petition at the Speaker’s chamber on Friday. The next date of hearing is July 30.
